These two words often get used interchangeably—but they’re not the same.
🦶 Mobility = Movement
It’s your ability to move from one place to another. This includes walking, transferring, standing, or navigating your surroundings.
🚪 Accessibility = Environment
It’s how your environment either helps or hinders that movement. Things like ramps, clear walkways, and public transport access.
Why it matters:
You can have great mobility, but if your environment isn’t accessible, it’s still a challenge. Or, you might have limited mobility—but thrive in an accessible space.
True independence comes from improving both what you can do—and where you can do it.
